The issue of grooming gangs targeting vulnerable girls in the UK has been a blight on British society for many decades, devastating countless young lives. This heinous crime has affected not only white British girls but also Hindu and Sikh girls, exposing a deeply troubling pattern of abuse.
While we acknowledge that a national inquiry has been conducted in the past, it fell short of fully addressing and connecting the critical issues at their root. This underscores the pressing need for a new, comprehensive national inquiry to thoroughly investigate and resolve these underlying concerns.
We, INSIGHT UK, a social movement of British Hindus and British Indians, strongly urge the government to initiate a new independent and transparent inquiry into the operations of these grooming gangs. Such an inquiry must not only identify the perpetrators but also examine the failures of the social, political, judicial and media systems in addressing the issue.
Reports indicate that a significant number of men involved in these grooming gangs are from a Pakistani Muslim heritage. However, the unwillingness of politicians, media and authorities to explicitly identify the backgrounds of the perpetrators, often cloaking them under the vague term “Asian”—is deeply problematic which unfairly implicates other communities, including varying Asian communities and religious communities, while shielding the true offenders from accountability.
To truly address the issue, it is essential to question why the perpetrators emerge from certain sections of the Pakistani Muslim community. Without delving into the motives and justifications behind their actions, it can neither be fully grasped nor solved at the root of the problem.
We call for:
- A thorough investigation into the grooming gangs with no tolerance for political correctness that obstructs justice.
- Clear identification of perpetrators to ensure accountability and protect the reputation of innocent communities. Including an understanding of what ideologies and justifications the perpetrators used to groom these girls.
- Strong preventive measures to safeguard all vulnerable children and ensure such crimes never occur again.
Justice must not be sacrificed at the altar of political expediency. It is time to ensure that victims receive justice and that the safety of all young people is prioritised.
