Navrātri
Śarad Navrātri starts on Pratham tithi of Śukla Paksha of Śarad month. Navrātri, meaning ‘Nine nights’ is a celebration of the divine feminine energy, a time to revere the Goddess in all her forms.
Spiritually, during Navrātri, the divine feminine is worshipped as Mā Durgā, Lakshmi & Saraswatī. Though the Goddess is one, her three varied aspects are represented and worshipped during these Nine days.
Hindus immerse themselves in devotion, fasting, and joyful dance (Garbā) to honour the eternal power that creates sustains, and transforms the universe during these Nine nights.
The festival of Navrātri begins with the sacred ritual of Ghatasthapanā to invoke Mā Durgā.
