Bangladesh Hindu Genocide Factsheet 2024

The recent events in Bangladesh have resulted in radical Islamic fundamentalists launching an all-out attack on minority communities, particularly the Hindus. The events unfolded as follows: First, a lower court issued an order regarding the quota system in Bangladesh’s civil service. This triggered Islamists to rail against the quota system. On July 21, the Supreme Court of Bangladesh reduced the quota, increasing the recruitment percentage for government jobs to 93%. However, this failed to stop the Islamists.

Initially, Hasina’s government tried to contain the unrest through force, but it intensified. As the death toll rose, some of her advisors suggested transferring power to the army. However, the 76-year-old Prime Minister was reluctant. She insisted on strengthening the curfew already in place. Eventually, Hasina’s close relatives managed to convince her to resign as the mob closed in.

After Hasina stepped down, the army chief released opposition leader Khaleda Zia and promised to form an interim government with the opposition. This move signaled the Islamists to attack Hindu temples, homes, and individuals, resulting in widespread atrocities against the indigenous Hindu population across the country.

Mr Alamgir said that the India-Bangladesh relationship would continue to be sound. https://www.ndtv.com/world-news/bangladesh-mirza-fakhrul-islam-alamgir-sheikh-hasina-was-given-2-choices-be-mobbed-or-leave-key-bangladesh-leader-6308660

So far, 29 of the 64 districts have been badly affected. Atrocities against Hindus have been reported in all corners of Bangladesh and have spread across all districts. Fourteen temples have been attacked, vandalized, and destroyed. Many women have been raped. More than 25 Hindus have lost their lives, and an estimated 10,000 have been internally displaced. All 13 million Hindus are living in fear.

A fact sheet has been prepared by the Bengali Hindu Adarsha Snagh (BHAS) on the ongoing genocide of Hindus in Bangladesh. The fact sheet covers the recent Hindu genocidal efforts in Bangladesh by Islamic radicals and fundamentalists.
