Significance of ‘Deepavali’ or ‘Diwali’

Dīpāvali, or Diwālī is one of the most important festivals that is celebrated by Hindus, Jains, Buddhists, and Sikhs across the globe. It is commonly known as the festival of lights – deep means “light” and āvali “a row” to become “a row of lights.” Light symbolises “Knowledge”, as light removes darkness, knowledge removes “ignorance”.
